As the USC Trojans sit on a bye week during Week 3 of the college football season, they received minimal coverage during the College GameDay broadcast from Columbia, South Carolina.

The focus of the broadcast centered on an SEC matchup featuring No. 16 LSU and South Carolina, with LSU looking to bounce back after their season-opening loss to USC.

Analysts Kirk Herbstreit and Pat McAfee briefly acknowledged USC's strong performance earlier in the season.

In a notable comment, McAfee praised quarterback Miller Moss and said, “Miller Moss from bowl game, all the way through, the way he handled himself with LSU, phenomenal,” said McAfee in week two’s broadcast. "I loved him running down the sideline, the entire thing on Sunday night.

"But if you think about this USC team, the reason why they haven’t been able to really go with Caleb (Williams) is because of defense. I think D’Anton Lynn brings them a weapon on the defensive side of the ball.”

The Trojans, currently ranked No. 11, are gearing up for an important match against the defending national champion, No. 17 Michigan, which is expected to generate notable buzz among fans and analysts alike.

USC’s defensive coordinator, D’Anton Lynn, also received accolades for enhancing the team’s defensive strategies, which signifies a positive development for the Trojans. The defensive improvements reflect a broader shift in team identity under Lynn’s guidance.

While the Trojans didn’t dominate the airtime during the GameDay festivities, McAfee expressed optimism regarding their potential, emphasizing the team’s well-rounded performance.

As the Trojans prepare to face Michigan after their bye, conversations surrounding their upcoming game are likely to ramp up, especially given the quality of talent present on both teams.

This match will be pivotal not only in the context of national rankings but also in setting the tone for USC’s season moving forward.
