Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reason to brag about the results of his "Operation Lone Star" Border Security Program - but he's not letting up on the pressure Texas troops and troopers are bringing to bear on cartel migrant and drug smugglers:

"Texas has proven that razor wire barriers work. Illegal crossings into Texas have decreased by 85%, while it has increased in states like CA and AZ." -Texas Governor Greg Abbott

The governor has pledged to drastically expand those barriers even as illegal crossings into the Lone Star State continue to fall.

"We are TRIPLING our razor wire border barriers to deny illegal entry into our state and our country." -Governor Greg Abbott (September 14, 2024)

Since the launch of "Operation Lone Star," the multi-agency effort has led to over 518,900 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 46,300 criminal arrests, with more than 40,200 felony charges. Its success has attracted the attention of others concerned about border security.

Earlier this month Attorney Generals from Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia joined "Texas’ Border Czar" Mike Banks in El Paso for a tour and briefing on "Operation Lone Star" border security measures on the Rio Grande there.

Meanwhile, Texas continues to string more barbed wire and build more sections of "Border Wall" as it continues to make it harder for cartel smugglers, drugs, and migrants to illegally cross the Rio Grande into the Lone Star State.

Should more states follow Texas' lead in securing the Southern Border with Mexico?
