Michigan football jumped out to a 21-3 lead but struggled to put away Sun Belt Conference opponent Arkansas State at the Big House in Ann Arbor, MI on Saturday, one week after their first loss of the season to the Texas Longhorns.

The Wolverines' 28-18 win over the Red Wolves was as underwhelming as quarterback Davis Warren's three-interception performance, which led to stark comments from Head Coach Sherrone Moore in the postgame press conference.

"Just can't have 'em," Moore said about the Los Angeles native's interceptions.

"Put the ball in harm's way too many times, so (we) made a change, and we'll continue to practice and we'll go from there."

Warren completed 11-of-14 passes for 122 yards and three interceptions on the day. He did not throw a touchdown pass.

Orji recorded Michigan's only passing TD of the day to freshman tight end Hogan Hansen during a fourth quarter in which the Wolverines' backups were outscored 15-7.

Moore said he was surprised by Michigan's turnovers.

"Not great stuff to put on film," he said . "I was surprised. It's football though, that stuff is going to happen, so we had to make a change."

Moore added that Warren is disappointed by his mistakes and continuing to stay positive.

"He's as disappointed as you think he would be," Moore said about Warren's post-game mental state.

"His attitude and the way he carried himself with the other guys was outstanding. He knew he couldn't do that and put the ball in harm's way. He was as positive as could be."

Michigan has another big game against new Big Ten foe USC next week in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines are almost certain to be underdogs heading into the game considering their lackluster quarterback play, a stark contrast from the play of JJ McCarthy during last season's national championship run.
