Deion Sanders Under Fire for Late-Game Actions Against Colorado State

Deion Sanders is facing criticism for his fourth-quarter actions during Colorado's 28-9 win over Colorado State on Saturday.

Colorado held a comfortable lead for most of the second half against the Rams. But late in the fourth quarter, Colorado continued to throw the ball, seemingly in an effort to pad quarterback Shedeur Sanders' stats.

CBS announcers Rich Waltz and Ross Tucker called out coach Sanders for the move during the broadcast. The duo theorized that Deion was going over the head of offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur.

"I got to be honest with you, I think this has to be coming from Deion Sanders, because I just can't imagine that this is what Pat Shurmur would want to be doing in this situation," Tucker said. "I mean, he's a three-time NFL head coach. I think Pat would just be taking a knee and winning the football game and not taking a chance any offensive lineman gets hurt or that the quarterback gets hit again."

With a little over a minute left and up 19, Colorado went for it on fourth down, throwing it again. The pass fell incomplete and Sanders took a hit while delivering it, drawing criticism from Tucker.

"They are fortunate that this wasn't a bigger hit," Tucker said. "Can you imagine what we would be saying all week if Shedeur Sanders got his throwing arm hit in a game where they're up 19 with less than a minute left, and they could have just taken a knee? I don't understand. I have not seen very many teams in my life in NFL or FBS football do that. It's a really interesting choice."

Sanders finished the game with 310 yards and four touchdowns. Colorado moved to 2-1 with the win.

It’s a huge rivalry! You hammer your rival any chance you get! You embarrass them and let them know that you are superior to them in every way! Only the true competitor understands that! Ask any competitor!
