Detroit-born singer Lizzo appeared at a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday where she encouraged Michigan residents to vote early in the swing state .

“This is the swing state of all swing states, so every last vote here counts,” she said. “If you ask me if America is ready for its first woman president , I only have one thing to say,” she added, referencing her hit song: “It’s about damn time!”

Lizzo praised her hometown and told attendees it was time to “put some respect on Detroit’s name” noting that the city had revolutionized the auto and music industries, adding that she’d already cast her ballot for Harris since voting early was “a power move.”

Harris then took the stage and continued the theme, saying of her campaign, “Like the people of Detroit, we have grit, we have excellence, we have history.”

“Who is the capital of producing records?” Harris asked as she urged residents to vote early. “We are going to break some records here in Detroit today.”

More than 1 million Michigan residents have already voted by mail in the November 5 election.

Harris will now travel to Atlanta for a rally this evening with R&B singer Usher . Early voting in Georgia is already underway.
