USMNT star Christian Pulisic is set to face Liverpool in the Champions League this midweek with Arne Slot taking charge of his first European fixture with the Reds on Tuesday at the San Siro.

And the 25-year-old former Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund forward will be hoping that Liverpool's form from this weekend rolls over into the next fixture after a poor performance allowed Nottingham Forest to win 1-0 at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday. Slot's men need to show a reaction from that defeat and make an instant improvement.

"It’s the first Champions League game against a great team, and it’s obviously a great challenge," Pulisic said live on DAZN as he previewed the showpiece fixture. "We are lucky to play at home. Hopefully, we can play well and get the result."

Liverpool won 2-1 away in Milan when the teams were drawn in the same European group in 2021. That year, the Reds went on to reach the final in Paris where they were narrowly beaten by Real Madrid .

While Liverpool comes into the fixture needing to bounce back and get a positive result to avoid slipping into a run of poor performances, AC Milan warmed up for the game with a 4-0 victory over Venezia. Pulisic got a goal and an assist.

"It was a great start for us," Pulisic continued. "To get a win like this, with four goals and a clean sheet. We have to continue like this and build on this win."

Liverpool.com says: AC Milan will be an interesting test for Liverpool. They at least won't sit back and defend as deeply as Nottingham Forest did, so that should help the Reds in an attacking sense. It will be fascinating to see how many changes to the starting XI Slot makes, too, given the lethargy that was present this weekend.
