Osceola County, Florida, was named after the renowned Seminole leader. In the late 1900s, the area became a transportation center for the railroad and riverboats. The county encompasses roughly 1500 square miles and includes St. Cloud which was incorporated in 1911.

It is said that the largest sugar mill in the country operated on the land now known as St. Cloud. Its nickname, however, is "Soldier City" due to Mount Peace Cemetary where more than 400 Union soldiers were laid to rest.

Last week, a chilling event unfolded in Osceola County. A father's normal morning routine of driving his daughter to the school bus was tragically interrupted. The St. Cloud resident, whose home is on Settlers Trail Road, had situated the school girl in the car and grabbed a plastic cup to put in the trash can before they left the driveway.

It was then that two unknown assailants, wearing masks, viciously attacked him while his daughter watched from the car. He screamed for her to get in the house. She avoided injury.

The father was struck with a sharp instrument twice in his back and once in his shoulder. According to the victim, the suspects never said a word or made any demands. They left him in a pool of blood at 6 a.m. First responders treated the dad on site and transported him to the hospital.

The 911 recording reveals the dad's distress and that he feared for his life -- statements were documented by ClickOrlando of him talking about his pain and telling someone else with him, “I love you, baby.”

"We got to sell the house and move. Someone tried to kill me," the man pleaded.

There are few details regarding the suspects. They've been described as average builds, dressed in all black, and disguising their faces with ski masks.

St. Cloud Police officials believe this heinous incident is isolated and have urged the community to review home security footage to offer any available assistance to identify the perpetrators.
