On Friday night, Jane’s Addiction played in Boston when Perry Farrell decided to start a fight with Dave Navarro. While bands often disagree, the fight between Farrell and Navarro happened right on stage. Since the fight broke out, fans have wondered exactly what led to the explosion of anger from Farrell. Even when he decided to throw punches at Navarro, the guitarist appeared confused, just like the audience. With the band’s future somewhat in limbo, Jane’s Addiction released a statement while canceling its upcoming show.

Decided to release a statement on Instagram, Jane’s Addiction announced the cancellation of their show in Bridgeport. The band also used the time to apologize for what happened on stage. “We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night. As a result we will be cancelling tomorrow night’s show in Bridgeport.”

Not wanting fans to worry about their tickets, Jane’s addiction added, “Refunds will be issued at your point of purchase – or if you purchased via a third-party reseller (StubHub, SeatGeek, etc.) reach out to them directly. Thank you, Jane’s Addiction.”

Perry Farrell’s Wife Opens Up About Jane’s Addiction Fight

Outside of releasing a statement, Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, decided to clear the air and explain why the scuffle happened in the first place. Posting the video on Instagram, Etty wrote, “Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night.”

Etty added that people in the front row started to complain the band was playing too loud. “When the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.”

While explaining Farrell’s side of the story, neither he nor Navarro released a statement about the on-stage incident. Only time will tell if the rest of their upcoming shows end up canceled over the growing tension.
