Did You Know These Interesting Facts About the City of Henderson?

The City of Henderson isn’t nearly as well known as its next-door neighbor Las Vegas.

That’s completely understandable since Las Vegas is one of the most visited cities in the world.

But Henderson is a great city in its own right. Here are five interesting facts about the city that you may not have known.

    Population

Henderson isn’t very big when you compare it to Las Vegas, but it’s also not that small.

Its population of 343,486 is comparable to Anchorage, Alaska; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

    Dog Parks

The City of Henderson is extremely dog-friendly.

There are a respectable 21 dog parks in the city. They even have an annual pool day just for dogs.

    Charter and Private Schools (K-12)

Let’s face it, Clark County School District has a poor reputation.

Henderson might not be able to change that all on their own, but they are doing their best.

The City of Henderson has more than 20 charter Schools and 12 private schools for its residents to choose from.

    Public Libraries

With today's technology, visiting the library might seem to some as a thing of the past. But, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

    Libraries are still widely used.

Henderson residents have five libraries to choose from.

    • James L. Gibson
    • Green Valley
    • Heritage Park Senior Facility
    • Paseo Verde
    • West Henderson Library

    Museums

The first thing people think of when they think of the Las Vegas Valley is gambling.

However, the area, Henderson included, has an interesting history even after you take out all mention of gambling.

Clark County Museum is a great place to go to learn about some of that history.
