Israel's Netanyahu to appear at UN General Assembly in New York

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to attend the UN General Assembly in New York again this year.

He is scheduled to arrive in New York on September 24 and return to Israel four days later, Netanyahu's office said on Sunday.

Netanyahu has already addressed the UN General Assembly several times, most recently last year. This year, his trip is overshadowed by the war in Gaza.

A large majority of states in the General Assembly are critical of Israel and favourable to the Palestinians.

In May, a resolution was adopted by an overwhelming majority granting the observer state of Palestine significantly expanded participation in meetings - albeit without regular voting rights.
