Senior Cat Who Doesn't Like Making New Friends Falls in Love with Foster Kitten

There are plenty of humans out there who aren't cat people, but did you know that there are cats who aren't cat people (or... cat cats, you know what I mean). Despite being a cat themselves, they're just not into hanging with other felines — or maybe they're just introverts. One of my cats very obviously prefers dogs to other cats, so I've seen that kind of behavior in action. There's not a lot you can do to change their mind if they don't want to be around other kitties!

But sometimes, they'll change their minds on their own... and when you least expect it. For example, in the video below, we have a crotchety senior cat who thought she didn't like other cats until she met the one she did like.

On Tuesday, September 10, @lucilletherescuecat shared the sweet story of her older cat, Lucille, who had a totally unexpected reaction when she brought home a foster kitten.

"My senior cat who hates all other cats fell in love with my foster kitten... so of course I had to let her keep the kitten," she wrote in the video. Well, of course. How could she not?

Lucille really does seem to have fallen in love with this sweet baby, whose name is Margaret. She cuddles her and grooms her, looking nothing like she hates other cats at all! But there's a very good chance that she still does hate other cats — Margaret is just that special.

Others who have cats with similar temperaments agreed that it was also a kitten to turn things around. One fellow cat mom wrote in the comments, "Getting kittens was so amazing for my older cat. She used to not be a fan but now she has friends."

    This is too sweet!

    Lucille & Her Kitten

The love between Lucille and her kitten wasn't exactly immediate when her mom took in rescue kittens... but Margaret eventually stuck out to her, and they've been inseparable ever since.

Their mom has been documenting their growing friendship in videos, and it really is so sweet to see (especially knowing that Lucille can be a bit combative toward other animals).

It was only mid-August that they decided to adopt Margaret after her mom realized that Lucille had taken to the kitten in a way that doesn't normally happen from her. Since then, they've only grown closer, and in another video, we can see them play fighting . They're best friends already!

May this be the beginning of a long and beautiful friendship. These two are going to be so good for each other!
