Good afternoon everyone. Remnant tropical energy is responsible for the development of today's renewed action of heavy showers and thunderstorms ranging from south Texas to south Florida.

We're watching the radar closely, and some fairly hefty showers and storms have begun to bubble up over or near the Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and "Alligator Alley" stretch of Florida. We're also seeing some locally strong to severe storms possible, with Special Marine Warnings posted by the National Weather Service on & off as these storms reach the shoreline.

Locally strong winds, rough seas, hail, torrential rain, and the risk of some waterspouts, are all possible throughout the day. We could also see a few isolated strong to severe storms over land, with frequent lightning, damaging winds, torrential rain, and flooding in poor drainage areas. We could also see some of this action sink down towards the Florida Keys as the day wears on.

In south Texas and in between Brownsville & San Antonio, we are watching very heavy showers and storms developing as tropical energy helps fire up some healthy storms. This is an area that could use some much-needed rain, but too much too soon, could be the cause of some flash flooding.

Like Florida, this area could see some locally strong to severe storms. Torrential rain, strong winds, hail, and frequent lightning, will be the biggest risk. Do not attempt to cross roads that have fast moving water, or transit areas where water can flow/rise rapidly due to the dry soil.

Expect this action on both sides of the Gulf of Mexico to wane a bit after sunset today.
