Adrian G. Dumitru began his writing journey at the age of sixteen, but after initial setbacks and an extended hiatus, he rediscovered his passion for writing as a form of self-therapy. Over the years, Dumitru has transitioned from aspiring writer to what he defines as an essayist, capturing his thoughts and philosophical insights through a personal, reflective lens. Despite not fitting neatly into traditional categories of writing or poetry, his work, characterized by its introspective nature and explorations of the self, has led to the publication of numerous books. Dumitru continues to advocate for writing as a transformative tool for self-understanding and healing, embracing his role as a thinker on an ever-evolving journey.

Adrian's book The Refugees...A Story About Change: Essays - contradictory perceptions about love, philosophy, spirituality, motivation ... and life in general is currently free on Amazon and Google Books.

    Author Q&A

How did you come up with the title?

It really needed to be something representing the main subject of the book.
Somehow all being motivational essays, related with the Ukrainian refugees which i was interacted with in Bucharest.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Well … the main idea is that we could really lose all we have … overnight.
Same as my friends … the refugees.
And the question is how will we really act into such a similar situation.

How much of the book is realistic?

It’s all about real stories from the beginning of the war Russia-Ukraine.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

    Yes.
    Only real stories.
    Interesting things happened in 2022.

What behind-the-scenes tidbit in your life would probably surprise your readers the most?

Well … I’ve tried to reflect into my book the real atmosphere from the private refugee center.

What is the funniest typo you’ve ever written?

    Maybe my change.
The ukrainian story changed me a lot from a guy focused mainly on business to someone really interested about humanitarian work.

If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you choose?

    Probably Ukraine.

Have you ever hated something you wrote?

    Maybe yes.
    Into my previous books.

What is your favorite theme/genre to write about?

    Philosophy, love, spirituality, psychology, motivation.

What is some advice that you might give to a fellow author?

Pay a lot of attention to the real stage of your life and inspire from there.
