The Cincinnati Bengals are back in America's heartland to face the Kansas City Chiefs. Before kickoff gets underway, let's look at those who won't play in today's game.

Here are the Bengals' Week 1 inactives

    • WR Tee Higgins
    • DT Kris Jenkins Jr.
    • ED Cedric Johnson
    • TE Tanner McLachlan
    • OT Amarius Mims

Jenkins (thumb) was the only player to be declared out by Cincinnati on Friday's injury report . The rookie defensive tackle missed all three practices during the week.

Higgins (hamstring), and Mims (pectoral) were each listed as doubtful entering the weekend. Johnson and McLachlan, both sixth-round picks from this year's NFL Draft, are the lone healthy scratches this week.

Not listed above is tight end Tanner Hudson, who was doubtful with a knee injury. Hudson missed practice Wednesday and Friday, so it's a bit surprising to see him active instead of McLachlan.

    Tee Higgins is officially inactive

It was unlikely for Higgins to play this week. He hasn't practiced since in over a week with a tweaked hamstring, but he did get some reps under his belt before kickoff with his teammates.

Higgins is likely close to returning, but it would've been shocking to see him play in Kansas City after not practicing all week. The Bengals will have a slightly longer week of preparation leading up to their Week 3 game on Monday Night Football against the Washington Commanders, which bodes well for Higgins to make his season debut.
