AP Crowns Tenacious Texas Longhorns No. 1 Over Georgia

The AP Poll lists the Texas Longhorns at No. 1 for the first time since 2008. After an explosive game against the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday, Texas overtook Georgia for the top spot. The final score, 56-7, was a much more decisive win over Georgia’s 13-12 against the Kentucky Wildcats. Overwhelming offense and defense once again led the Texas Longhorns’ charge to victory. Although Texas faced an early scare, Quarterback Arch Manning relieved an injured Quinn Ewers well.

The latest AP Rankings place the Texas Longhorns in the coveted top spot after Week 3 was said and done. Fans at the Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium witnessed an action-packed game on Saturday. Despite Quarterback Quinn Ewers leaving the game early with a strained abdomen, Texas held on. The last time that the Texas Longhorns were No. 1 was a three-week stint ending at Texas Tech.

Final Thoughts

The Texas Longhorns will look to corral that top spot for another week at least. They face Louisiana-Monroe next weekend at home before their SEC challenges begin. Meanwhile, the Georgia Bulldogs will battle the Alabama Crimson Tide on their turf. By unseating the Georgia Bulldogs at the top of the pack, Texas has put the SEC on notice.
