Confirmation Of Whether Tony Khan Is Interested In Working With Matt Riddle

Earlier this week, Matt Riddle revealed during an interview with Sports Illustrated that he spoke to Tony Khan backstage at NJPW Windy City Riot in April. However, the former WWE star wasn’t sure whether he made a good impression, explaining that he felt he came across as sarcastic and ended up just walking away from AEW’s head honcho. And now Fightful Select has followed up on this, reporting that Khan isn’t interested in hiring Riddle and seemingly doesn’t even like him working with AEW talents on the indies.

“We’re told that behind the scenes Khan has not had any interest in bringing Matt Riddle into All Elite Wrestling, especially over the last number of years. It was also noted to us that AEW talent almost never works Matt Riddle on the indies, and when they do, it’s in Mexico.”

38-year-old Riddle is often called his own worst enemy, as after sabotaging his UFC career via multiple failed drug tests, he would do the same in WWE despite being prominently featured and reportedly a favorite of Vince McMahon. Therefore, it is easy to understand why Khan would be hesitant to work with Riddle, and when you add the fact he had serious allegations made against him by Candy Cartwright, it is actually surprising he gets so many bookings.
