BREAKING: FBI Confirms ‘Attempted Assassination’ Investigation in Trump Golf Course Shooting

The FBI released a statement on Sunday confirming that the incident involving shots fired near former President Donald Trump on Sunday is being treated as an attempted assassination.

A shooting occurred at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf club in Florida on Sunday.

“The FBI has responded to West Palm Beach Florida and is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump,” the agency confirmed.

During a news conference on Sunday afternoon, law enforcement officials revealed that the gunman hid in bushes near the golf club’s property line. Secret Service agents were able to spot a rifle barrel in the bushes while clearing holes for Trump before the former president arrived.

After spotting the rifle, agents engaged the gunman with gunfire causing him to drop his weapon, two backpacks and other items before fleeing in his black Nissan vehicle. A witness in the area spotted the gunman flee and took pictures of his car and license plate.

A suspect found inside a vehicle matching the description of the gunman was later detained by law enforcement.

The incident occurs two months after Trump was injured during a rally shooting in Pennsylvania when a bullet grazed his ear and killed one of his supporters.
