Cleveland Browns had to come out and get a win in Week 2 when facing the Jacksonville Jaguars just to calm down the fanbase a bit after how they played in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys .

Deshaun Watson was better for the Browns in Week 2, mainly in the opening moments of the game. On the very first drive for the offense, Watson went 7-of-8 passing for 83 yards and capped it off with a short rushing touchdown.

Going 22-of-34 passing for 186 yards is not great, but it was at least a step in the right direction for Watson. It was important for Watson to come out and play better following his performance against the Cowboys and the recent lawsuit coming to surface against him.

“He made some plays and that's who he is,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said after the game. “I thought his pocket movement, making plays off schedule was incredible. A couple of those throws down the field were really, really impressive and he never blinked,”

Jerry Jeudy was Watson’s top option on a day that saw another poor performance from wide receiver Amari Cooper and in a game the Browns did not have tight end David Njoku. Jeudy finished with 73 yards on five catches and he looks to have already built a connection with Watson.

The important thing for Watson and the Browns offense is that they did not turn the ball over against the Jaguars. And in a close 18-13 win, that very well could have been the difference.

Cleveland still needs a whole lot more from their offense and perhaps the most important thing is getting healthy and better execution. If the Browns can do that, it will improve the offense as a whole. There was at least some improvement seen from the starting quarterback in Week 2.

Next up for the Browns is a home date with the New York Giants next Sunday at 1 p.m.
