Broderick Jones benched after wrecking drive and Steelers fans have seen enough

The Pittsburgh Steelers decided to go with a rotation at the right tackle position in Week 2, with the team utilizing both 2024 first-round pick Troy Fautanu and 2023 first-round selection, Broderick Jones.

But the rotation was short-lived after Jones singlehandedly wrecked a Steelers drive in the second quarter against the Denver Broncos . Jones committed a total of three penalties on the Steelers' third offensive series of the game, which wrecked the drive.

He was flagged for one false start and a pair of holding penalties, one of which negated a greeat 51-yard pass from quarterback Justin Fields to wide receiver George Pickens that would have put the Steelers in the red zone. Instead, Pittsburgh had to settle for a punt.

After his trio of blunders, head coach Mike Tomlin decided to bench the second-year tackle in favor of Fautanu. The Steelers have seen enough struggles on offense and simply can't afford to have Jones making things more difficult.

Jones' struggles began in the preseason, when he was a sieve in pass protection — and that issue continued in Week 1. It's clear that Jones is a massive liability when he's on the field and that's something Pittsburgh can no longer allow.

Following his embarrassing showing and benching, he was absolutely ripped on social media and it's clear Steelers fans have seen enough.

The guys who plays on the left side has to be trustworthy to protect my blindside. Maybe that's why they moved him to the right. 😜
