The Chicago Bears have released the official inactives list for Sunday Night Football against the Houston Texans in Week 2 with the offense getting good and bad news.

The good news, rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze will in fact being active despite being listed as questionable with a knee injury. Odunze suffered an MCL sprain in Week 1's win against the Tennessee Titans but was able to test the knee prior to kickoff and will be good to go.

Veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen, however, will be out for Sunday night's contest with a lingering heel injury. Allen did not participate in practice at all during the week.

As for the other Bears' inactives, Velus Jones Jr., Noah Sewell, Khari Blasingame, Dominque Robinson, and Kiran Amegadjie will be out for Week 2.

With the Bears a little short-handed at wide receiver, the team opted to keep second-year Tyler Scott on the game day roster. Scott was a healthy inactive in the season opener but is expected to have a big opportunity later tonight with Allen out. The Bears also elevated wide receiver Collin Johnson from the practice squad over the weekend to help add depth to the position.

Despite all the changes at the position, the offense is still confident in their weapons and the connection they have with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. During the offseason, the Bears specifically mixed and matched play-makers within the first team offense so everyone can get reps playing with their new quarterback.

"It shouldn't be no challenge [mixing in other WRs], because we all rotated with [Williams]," star wide receiver DJ Moore explained this week . "Everybody in our receiver group did training camp. So I think [Williams has] got a feel for everybody and whoever's gonna be out here."

The Bears offense will, however, still be looking to find what their identity is going to be this season under offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. In Week 1, the Bears used multiple different formations and personnel without finding much success anywhere.

"I expect us to be there sooner rather than later as far as what our identity looks like," Waldron said . "We know we want to be an attacking offense. We want to be able to feel the tempo, feel the rhythm of the game right now and then be able to maximize the usage of all our different personnel."

After another week of practice, the unit will be looking to find something that helps create some sparks and consistency against the Texans defense.

"I think us figuring out exactly what works best [for the offense]," Williams added . "With our offensive lineman and our run game, or whether we spread it out, pack it in tight, stack, whether we get three tight ends in the game, whether we have two back, three backs, whatever the case may be. Just figuring out what works best with our offense and being able to go out there and execute smoothly, especially going to a playoff team last year and going to their stadium and having to go execute."

One thing the Bears offense will be doing differently in Week 2 compared to Week 1 will be upping the usage of tight end Cole Kmet . Last week, the Bears big-bodied tight end played just 27 offensive snaps and ran 11 total routes while the passing game struggled in the intermediate areas of the field. With Allen out of the lineup tonight, the Bears can ease the pressure on the wide receiver position by dialing up more 2-TE sets, putting both Kmet and Gerald Everett on the field.

"We know Cole is one of the top tight ends in the league," Waldron said. "He does a great job for us. He has done nothing but the right thing ever since I’ve been around him. So, that’s more on us, starting with me, getting the reps a little bit more balance. But it also goes back to playing efficient football. And when we’re doing that, not getting titled out of some of the plays we wanted going into that game."

Even with Allen out and Odunze still possibly limited, the Bears have plenty of experienced play-makers who can help get this unit on track, it's just about executing.

The Bears will be lucky to be 8 and 8 they need an offensive line it doesn’t matter who you have at QB, if they are running for their life or on their back!Maybe playing the starter in preseason might help!
