The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Sierra Nevada, effective from 11 PM tonight until 5 PM Monday. Snow levels are expected to drop to 7,500 feet, with a 40 percent chance of up to 3 inches of snow at Tioga Pass. Above 8,000 feet, there is a 40 to 80 percent chance of accumulating snow.

In addition, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 5 PM this evening through 5 AM Tuesday for Eastern Kern County, with gusts potentially reaching 50 mph. This will be accompanied by cooler temperatures and rain in the San Joaquin Valley, with a 20 to 60 percent chance of receiving at least 0.05 inches of rain north of Kern County.

A brief warm-up is expected on Tuesday, but another trough will bring more rain and a higher chance of snow to the Sierra from Wednesday to Thursday. The second system may also bring warmer conditions and a potential ridge for the weekend, with temperatures possibly rising to 95 degrees in the Valley.
