Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Salt Lake City.

Wind gusts up to 60 mph are expected. Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Sandy, Murray, Bountiful, West Jordan, Taylorsville, Midvale, South Salt Lake, North Salt Lake, Woods Cross, Millcreek, Kearns, Salt Lake City International Airport, Magna, Oquirrh, Cottonwood West, Canyon Rim, East Millcreek, and Sugar House.

This includes the areas of I-15 between mile markers 296 and 316, as well as I-80 between mile markers 109 and 126.

“For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building,” the NWS stated in the alert.

The warning is in effect until 5:45 p.m.
