Isaiah Pacheco is a major cog in the Kansas City Chiefs offensive machine, but an ankle injury took him out of action Sunday.

It was in the fourth quarter when Pacheco injured his ankle, causing him to exit the game for good.

Before being injured, Pacheco still finished the game as the team's leading rusher, piling up 90 yards on 19 carries while adding 21 more yards on five catches.

After the game, head coach Andy Reid gave reporters an update, calling it a potential "major injury." He also made it clear that further testing will need to be done to understand the extent of the injury.

"The only major injury would be (Isiah) Pacheco with his ankle," Reid said, per A to Z Sports . We'll just have to see. He's having some tests done on it now, x-rays, all that stuff. So I don't have anything for you exactly what it is, but he came out with the ankle."

Perhaps just as troubling is a report from Jeff Darlington of ESPN, who wrote on X , "In a not-so-great update, Pacheco is leaving the stadium on crutches and a walking boot. And so Monday’s tests become all the more important."

The Chiefs next play the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night in Week 3. They have started the 2024 NFL campaign with two wins and are in fantastic shape to make a run at the first three-peat in league history.
