    **UPDATE 9/16 — Detroit police now say a second person has died after a double shooting where a tailgate crowd was gathered at Eastern Market after Sunday's Lions game .**
    ===================================================

    DETROIT (WWJ) A man was killed, and another was critically injured, in a shooting at Eastern Market after the Detroit Lions game, police said.

    Detroit Police said officers were already directing traffic at Eastern Market Shed 6, at Riopelle and Wilkins near Ford Field, on Sunday afternoon when the shooting happened around 4:30 p.m.

    I n a press conference posted by FOX 2-Detroit , Detroit Police Chief James White said the suspect and victims were “more than likely tailgating” and “got into to it over something that happened (there).”

    "Large fight breaks out. The fight disperses after a few minutes. They reconvene in the same area, a few feet away from where the initial fight started," White said. "The two fighters put their hands up like they're about to fight each other and get into position for a fight. One of the people in the fight...pulls out a gun and shoots at least twice."

    The suspect is an Oak Park man, in his 30s, who holds a CPL. He is in custody and is expected to face murder charges, according to White.

    Police are investigating if the suspect and the victims knew each other.

    "No one else is at risk," White said.

    The injured victim, a Detroit man in his 20s, is in critical condition; and the man killed was Detroit man in his 40s. Their names were not released.

    Two guns were recovered at the scene.

    “Tailgating, drinking and guns…they don’t mix,” White said.

    He pleaded with the community to resolve their disagreements without guns.

    “We see it at carnivals. We see it at social events. Everybody’s got to have a gun…” White said. “…It’s a beautiful day, and it shouldn’t have had to end like this.”
