When you think of Kansas City, oftentimes you think Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. Why? It is because they are a dynamic pairing. A duo that often connects on the field to make crucial plays that will ultimately win games. However, during a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, Kelce and Pat are not able to sync up as much as they probably would of liked. Due to this, the Chiefs Travis Kelce does not record at least 3 catches for the first time since 2018. A streak that has lasted and went on for over 110 games.

That is truly a wild stat. It just illustrates how much production Kelce brings to the Chiefs franchise. And how many opportunities he is able to create while in play. However, Sunday was just not a good day for the usual Travis and Pat show. Kelce was open plenty of times but the ball never arrived to him. But Travis just being on the field is a threat for opponents; because either defenses focus too much on him; or not enough.

Furthermore, while the game between the Bengals and Chiefs was another close one. The Chiefs would have just enough juice to pull out the win. Walking away as victors with a score of 25-26. Which means Kansas City has now won two games straight, while Burrow and company falls to a record of 0-2. But plenty of season still remains.

Nevertheless, getting back to that stat on Travis. Jared Koller, a sports anchor and producer for KCTV5-CBS, explains,

“Today marks the first game since September 2018 where Travis Kelce does not record at least 3 catches. It snaps a streak of 114 straight games, the longest streak by any player in NFL history. It dates back to Patrick Mahomes’ second career start.

[Additionally, after the game] Patrick Mahomes talks about his confidence in Harrison Butker’s ability to continuously deliver in the clutch. [Mahomes says], ‘It’s a special thing to have a kicker like that.’”

Sounds like Pat gets work with multiple special NFL players. With Travis and Harrison. But yes, Butker is deserving of accolades. His 51-yard field goal helped to lift the Chiefs over the Bengals in Sunday’s matchup.

So then, KC is off to another efficient start this season. And they have plenty of weapons and buttons to push to keep the wins coming.

This means Travis is doubleteamed and that Patrick Mahomes is finally trusting his other receivers, although I saw where Travis was open and Mahomes did not throw him the ball, I think he threw an interception instead.
