Mary’s Pizza Shack Corporation, a staple in Bay Area dining for 65 years, has filed for bankruptcy as part of a strategic effort to preserve its storied brand. Despite the filing, the company assured customers that all locations will remain open and operational.

The bankruptcy filing is the final step in a restructuring process that began in 2022. At that time, the company announced a shift from a single corporate structure to a collection of smaller, family-owned units. This change was aimed at enhancing the guest experience by involving third- and fourth-generation family members in the day-to-day operations of the restaurants.

The restructuring, which was completed in February 2023, is designed to uphold the legacy of Mary Fazio, the company's founder. As part of this transition, Fazio's granddaughters will take over the brand, ensuring that the iconic recipes and traditions of Mary’s Pizza Shack continue.

Despite some recent closures, the company emphasized that no additional locations will shut down, and gift cards will still be honored and sold. The message to loyal customers was clear: Mary’s Pizza Shack is committed to maintaining its long-standing reputation and continuing to serve its beloved dishes.
