Prince Harry to accept $10.5m inheritance despite not being working royal

Prince Harry is set to accept an $10.5m inheritance to mark his milestone birthday - despite not being a working royal.

The Duke of Sussex is to receive the generous sum left to him by a much-loved famous relative. Prince Harry's great-gran the Queen Mother set up a trust fund for him for his 40th birthday.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold told the New York Post : "I have no doubt that Harry will accept it. It's money that's owed to him, money that's coming to him. I don't think he will decline the money.

"It's his inheritance to so it's his right. It's already something that has been set in place for years now." It comes as a royal expert Hugo Vickers said the timing was impeccable for Harry and Meghan.

Vickers told The Sun : "No doubt it would be helpful because I think he leads a very expensive lifestyle. Hopefully he will put the money to good use. £8million can disappear pretty fast in a place like Montecito. The couple have an enormous staff, a big house to maintain and cars."

Meanwhile The Royal Family has made a notable move by extending birthday wishes to Prince Harry via social media as he celebrates his 40th birthday.

The Duke of Sussex, who is marking the milestone today, is said to be spending the day with Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie, aged five, and two year old Lilibet . Plans for the weekend include quality time with friends and family in the States, but there's also buzz about a potential reconciliatory meeting with his father, King Charles III , during his upcoming visit to the UK.

Their official account posted: "Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today! " This public acknowledgment is particularly significant since it's not common for non-working royals to receive such greetings on the family's official social media channels.

It's been three years since Prince Harry last received a birthday shout-out from the Royal Family account, which was back in 2021 when Queen Elizabeth II was still reigning. Similarly, the Prince and Princess of Wales' account last publicly acknowledged his birthday that same year,

It's expected that Harry will celebrate his 40th birthday surrounded by family and friends before taking some time off with a group of close buddies, as per reports.
