Op-Ed: Why Democrats tossed Biden under the bus for Harris

"I voted Republican this year; the Democrats left a bad taste in my mouth." –Monica Lewinsky

Its amazing how the left pivoted so quickly from defending President Joe Biden’s capacity to hold office to strong arming him to step down after praising him for the last four years. Its even more shocking that after four years of media criticism of Kamala Harris' numerous short comings and her checkered past, how quickly the beltway Democratic political elites could not wait to anoint her as their choice to replace Biden as their nominee. Obviously, all is fair in love, war and Democratic politics.

Some say the Democrats' reaction to two months of inner-party upheaval illustrated the strength of the party to throw a loyal Democratic veteran of 50 years under the bus so they could replace him with a person far less qualified to walk a mile in his shoes. Democrats proved they will correct their course and put their interests above those of a party loyalist if that's what it takes in order to win.

Others say it shows that Democrats talk the talk but don't walk the Democratic walk. Recognizing the success they had with Barack Obama and identity voters, they came up with an undemocratic machination to pull this election out of the fire, replacing Joe Biden with Kamala Harris. Considering Harris' dubious past, she'd never be the nominee if she had to compete in the Democratic primary.

With Harris, they'd able to regain the Black vote that had been moving right and it guaranteed the progressive vote since they don't have to present logical policies. And Democrats did not have to explain to the voters why they so aggressively threw a party loyalist like Biden under the bus.

"I bowed to the consensus of my party's decision makers and did what they wanted." – Joe Biden

If you look back at the 2020 election, you'll notice it was the same leftist coalition that bought Biden the primaries despite his obvious health issues, and gave Kamala Harris the nomination despite her well-publicized weaknesses. Is this compulsion by the Democrats a demonstration of democracy, or is it something much more sinister, much like we seen in banana republics an, all out “coup”?

In his book "Democracy in America," Alexis de Tocqueville, a 19th-century political theorist, observed Americans have a "herd unity" with political parties. Parties easily convince them collectivism is far more beneficial than individualism, which is how Democrats convince people to follow the leader.

Elections that feature a third party candidate proves Tocqueville's theory that third party candidates pull more votes from Republicans than Democrats. The GOP pulpitates opportunity, independence, small government and low taxes to stimulate economic growth while Democrats preach the merits of big government as the answer to their flock. GOP voters are void of government dependence.

"Government is not a solution to our problem. Government is the problem." –Ronald Reagan

While traveling America, Tocqueville observed that there were very few independent politicians who swayed from their party's core beliefs. The more liberal the leaders, the more they followed a party platform rather than leading it with new ideas. It is a rare exception for someone like Donald Trump and Democrat U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia to break with their party and put America first.

When Democrats saw an opportunity to dump Biden and replace him with Harris, with no regard for her past indiscretions and unpopular leftist policies, they jumped on it. What they claim was a victory for democracy was an Orwellian political coup that eliminated the will of their voters in making the decision who "they wanted" running "their government" for four years.

Biden's fate was determined by beltway elites who answer to unions, the media and big business donors. The same Democrats and media that camouflaged complaints about Biden as a candidate effortlessly forgot about Harris’ many flaws when their big money donors saw Biden slipping in the polls. Overnight, they buried Harris' leftist past and rewrote her history to portray her as a moderate.

Taking a chapter out of Orwell's "1984," Democrats and media have a monopoly on how to win at any cost. As the party of big business, media and special interests, they are eliminating the will of the people by hand-picking progressive candidates and buying their elections. They're violating the core tenants of democracy.

"We Democrats have no apologies to make to anyone." – Richard Daley

Since Donald Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016, the Democrats have tried to burry Trump in and out of office. Yet since he is a patriot, not a politician, he will not allow anyone to blemish his patriotism. Being president is not a job but a duty to serve his country like many patriots have done.

"We'll always have disagreements, but we as a nation will always rise above them." – Donald Trump

The mass incantation of misinformation coming from the Democratic Party, liberal media and leftist friendly institutions has generated enormous populist energy with uninformed voters for unknown Kamala Harris. If she wins, it will be a victory for Democrats but not for the people since they had no voice in choosing this candidate. A Harris victory will not reflect the will of the people in either party.

Vice presidents rarely get much attention. What attention Harris got as vice president was anything but positive. Public opinion for Harris soured shortly after she was elected and remained negative during her tenure with Biden. The biggest reason why people didn't like Harris was because she didn't try to influence major issues Biden supported, like our southern border and the economy.

According to most political pundits, Democrats are relying on Trump hatred generated by liberal media to win this election, just as they did in 2020. They are not running on political policies or major problems created by the Biden-Harris administration. Democrats believe that the hatred for Trump they have been spieling for almost a decade will garner them another victory this election.

A recent independent survey revealed a large number of voters are skeptical of enthusiasm for Kamala Harris this election. Conservatives from around the nation that say they’re unsatisfied with both parties show a near-unanimous lack of support for Harris. They breed a real skepticism about what Harris says and what she will actually do if she wins in November. As one voter put it, I'll vote for Trump between the two of them since he's the “devil we know” and Harris is the “devil we don’t know.”

We only have weeks before the election and the "Trump haters" who vote for Harris are also voting for the very unpopular policies she supports and the radical positions she swore by during her last presidential campaign. Democrats and liberal media are confident they can continue to keep voters ignorant until the fat lady sings on Election Day, and deliver a new progressive trifecta to America.

"A vote against instead of a vote for" is a bad decision that will come back to haunt you everyday.

“The greatest danger to a democracy is an uninformed electorate. Legislators bow to the demands of the ignorant majority instead of governing on the best interests of a society." – Thomas Avant

She had a better chance of winning, obviously. And Biden isn't in any trouble so how was he thrown under the bus, exactly?
