One dead in motorcycle crash in New Orleans

New Orleans Police say a motorcyclist is dead after a Sunday night crash.

"The NOPD is investigating an Auto Fatality that occurred at I-10 W at the Downman Rd Onramp," Public Information Officer James Roberson said in an email.  "Initial information shows 1 motorcycle was involved."

There were apparently no other vehicles involved in the fatal crash.

"The victim was pronounced deceased on scene."

Cops got the call just before 10:00pm.

"The victim was traveling Westbound... when for unknown reasons he lost control and struck the guardrail on the overpass," according to an initial police report. "The victim was ejected over the overpass and fell ground level."
