Amanda Balionis has revealed her favorite ritual is back after switching to the NFL from golf in the summer.

The CBS Sports presenter has transferred from her customary broadcasting role covering golf to the sidelines of the NFL action for the new season. Balionis paid an emotional farewell to golf with all four majors concluded this year and has returned to her role within the NFL coverage.

Balionis enjoyed week two action from the Bank of America Stadium as hosts Carolina Panthers entertained the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. It proved to be an unhappy return in front of their home crowd for the Panthers as they were comfortably beaten 3-26 by the Chargers. Carolina didn’t get on the scoreboard until the third quarter, with them already 20-0 down by half-time.

She uploaded a picture to Instagram of her sat inside the production truck with a coffee. The truck is the heart of the broadcasting operation and features a plethora of screens showing different camera angles from both inside the stadium and the live feed. Balionis was sat in front of a laptop that appeared to show a potential weather projection on a map that had a couple of pieces of blank paper over it.

The truck also had all of the sound control and equipment to switch the camera feed and acts as the main choreographer of the broadcast with a number of directors sitting in the truck while on air. Balionis added the caption: “One of my favorite rituals is back! Morning coffee in the truck,” as she prepared for the Panthers and Chargers clash.

Balionis revealed her return to NFL action ahead of week two on social media as she wrote: “Time to get back at it! Week 2 Chargers at Panthers .. see you Sunday!” Fans expected to see her in week one as the NFL season got underway but Balionis didn’t cover any games.

After her delayed return, Balionis also added to her Instagram a picture of her interviewing Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins and Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen. However, it was certainly Dobbins who enjoyed his afternoon’s work as he ran 131 yards with the ball – double the second most traveled Chargers player, Gus Edwards.

The Panthers suffered a second successive defeat to begin the season after they were put to the sword by the New Orleans Saints 47-10 in week one. Meanwhile the Chargers made it two wins from two games after beating the Las Vegas Raiders 22-10 last weekend.

Balionis has covered both the NFL and college football throughout her years working for CBS. Her links to the sport grew when she married former quarterback Bryn Renner; however, the pair appear to have since separated.
