‘Rumors’: Joe Scarborough Curtly Dismisses John Heilemann Floating Trump and Laura Loomer are In a Relationship

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough dismissed “rumors” shared by MSNBC contributor John Heilemann that far right MAGA influencer Laura Loomer and former President Donald Trump were “in a relationship.”

The curt rebuttal came as the team discussed the Trump campaign’s “cruel” role in propagating unfounded claims that Haitian immigrants were eating people’s pets in Ohio before the conversation pivoted to Loomer, a conspiracy theorist and provocateur who appeared alongside Trump during 9/11 memorial events in New York. Loomer also publicly clashed with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) last week .

On Monday’s Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski asked MSNBC contributor and Puck columnist Heilemann to explain who Loomer was.

He began: “Laura Loomer is a crazed, hate speech peddler… She’s one of the most toxic, most poisonous people on the far right. If there is a conspiracy theory or a form of hate speech that has ever been uttered by anybody ever in the MAGA sphere, she has propounded it. She has been banned from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.”

When prompted about her position in Trump’s inner circle, Heilemann continued: “She’s suddenly become Donald Trump’s constant companion. She is everywhere with Donald Trump. The Drudge Report was up for most of the weekend with photographs of the two of them, Donald Trump and Laura Loomer, being handsy with each other, and suggesting in straightforward terms, what is on fire in the internet and [comedian] Bill Maher’s show and other places, suggestions that the two of them have a relationship.”

“Oh, my gosh,” Brzezinski replied.

“Rumors,” Scarborough added. “No. No evidence of that at all.”

“I’d only say, Joe,” Heilemann responded in his defense. “I’d agree there’s no evidence of it other than the fact that she is someone who people on the Trump campaign do not want to be traveling with him. People in Donald Trump’s orbit do not want traveling with him. Marjorie Taylor Greene, [Senator] Thom Tillis (R-SC)…”

Scarborough returned: “Right.”

Heilemann added: “Everyone thinks this woman is bad news but he continues to take her around with him everywhere, which raises questions as to why. That is why it is fueling this speculation about what’s going on here because there’s no good political reason to have someone who is this person…”

Brzezinski cut in: “But that’s not a reason to introduce an inappropriate… I think it deduces that he is making terrible decisions as to how to run his campaign… because if you say there’s a conspiracy theory… like there’s not a conspiracy theory she would avoid that she embraces them, it seems like this turn has taken as her name has come up.”

Scarborough added: “I think the real problems began, of course, there were concerns that a conspiracy theorist was at the debate in Donald Trump’s group. Also, of course, the real concern on September 11th, which is basically an American day of remembrance, one of the most sacred, that a 9/11 truther would be in Donald Trump’s entourage with him at the events there.”
