Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw says Donald Trump's would-be assassin suspect is waking up in his jail this morning and tells Fox and Friends that Ryan Routh is not talking. And he is still in the Palm Beach County jail under federal custody.

Sheriff Bradshaw says detectives are looking to see if Routh had a local footprint or if he flew into the area recently.

The FBI forensics team is looking for the bullets fired by the secret service agent into the fence line yesterday. Bradshaw says the suspect did not fire his AK-47 style rifle he left at the scene.

Secret Service agents on Sunday discovered Ryan Routh armed with an AK-style rifle equipped with a scope near the Palm Beach golf course where Trump was playing. Routh dropped his weapon and fled in an SUV before he was caught in a neighboring county.

Bradshaw says Trump is alive this morning because "local and federal law enforcement were ready for this guy."

Trump thanked the Secret Service and Sheriff Bradshaw for their bravery and said they did an "outstanding job."

As of Monday morning, Routh has not yet been charged with a crime and it's unclear when he will appear in court.

The acting director of the Secret Service is on scene to investigate his agency's response.
