Commanders' Jayden Daniels On First NFL Win: 'Wasn't The Prettiest!'

The Washington Commanders are off the mark in 2024, with a 21-18 win over the New York Giants, with Jayden Daniels getting his first victory as a pro.

While it won't live long in the memory of Commanders fans who didn't see an offensive touchdown, but kicker Austin Seibert kicked all seven of his field goal attempts to beat the Giants by himself.

For Daniels, it's great to get his first win in the NFL, but he isn't bothered by how it looked.

"I feel blessed, can't really complain," Daniels said. "It wasn't the prettiest game, but you know, win is a win."

Jayden is right. The NFL is a results business, and it doesn't matter how you get a win as long as you get it.

Daniels would finish his day with 226 yards and completing 23 of his 29 passes while rushing for 44 yards on 10 carries. But the big winner was Brian Robinson Jr., who gashed the Giants on the ground with 133 yards from 17 carries, which included a 40-yard run as the Commanders offense often got into scoring range but had to settle for field goals.

Daniels led drives of 19, 11, 15, 10, 10, 13, and eight plays (game-winning field goal) as Kliff Kingsbury's offense moved the ball at will; they just couldn't punch it in for six.

But that will come, and the offense is still getting used to playing with each other, but picking up gritty wins like this along the way will only do good things for a franchise looking to escape from the NFL doldrums.

Daniels got his first win, and it wasn't easy on the eye, but in all honesty, who cares?

Washington is on the board in 2024.
