After back-to-back nine-win regular-season campaigns, the Jacksonville Jaguars were supposed to take the next step forward during the 2024 NFL season. Instead, Doug Pederson's team has done anything but that as they fell to 0-2 on the year with Sunday's 18-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns .

Consecutive losses to start the year aren't what the Jaguars envisioned happening, leading to frustration beginning to set in. Starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence voiced his thoughts about Jacksonville's 0-2 start following the home-opening loss and didn't hold back.

"We suck right now," Lawrence said during his availability. "It's pretty shocking to me. We had a great offseason, a great training camp. We've got to figure it out."

Lawrence also said that red zone issues and a lack of communication ultimately led to the Jaguars' downfall in Week 2. He then added that the key to turning things around is "looking ourselves in the mirror and seeing what we can do better"

"It's on all of us," he said. "We all have to look at that and just put emphasis on communication. It's day one stuff. It's simple stuff."

Lawrence and the Jaguars' attack struggled to get anything going against the Browns early on. A 22-yard field goal from kicker Cam Little was Jacksonville's lone score of the first half, leading to the team trailing 13-3 at halftime.

The Jaguars did push back in the second half, though. Running back Travis Etienne found the end zone on a four-yard run in the third quarter before Little cut the deficit to three points with a 25-yard field goal in the fourth.

Unfortunately, that's as close as the Jaguars got to evening the game. Lawrence was sacked in the end zone by Browns defensive end Alex Wright with less than two minutes to go, leading to Cleveland safety that cemented the victory for the visitors.

If the Jaguars want to turn things around, Lawrence must find a way to get the offense rolling again. The former Clemson QB has been disappointing since signing a $275 million extension this offseason , having completed just 26-of-51 passes (51.0 percent) for 382 passing yards, one touchdown and an 82.3 passer rating.

For now, Jacksonville has some extra time to rest up before its next matchup. The Jaguars return to action when they head to Highmark Stadium to face the Buffalo Bills in the Week 3 "Monday Night Football" showdown.
