Corgi 'Forces' Mom to Eat Curbside Since She 'Doesn't Want an Audience' During Dinner

Whether we realize we're doing it or not, as dog parents, we are constantly doing wild things to make our pets happy. All dogs have quirks, just like people do, and if it means our dogs being happy, many of us are willing to bend over backwards and inconvenience ourselves so that they have what they need. Sometimes, that means setting up their bed a certain way or only using a certain bowl to serve their food and making sure it's always clean... but in some cases, it's a bit more extreme, like what's happening in the TikTok video below.

But for a Corgi who is this cute, I think a lot of people would be willing to make this concession!

In this video shared by @alexwoodard, one very patient dog mom explained why she was sitting outside, eating alone: Her Corgi pup required it if she was going to eat, that's why.

"Eating on the curb because I'm on a road trip with my dog and it's her dinner time and she refuses to eat with anyone else in the car," she wrote.

Sure enough, there's her dog inside the car, happy as can be while poor Mom is sitting outside in the parking lot, eating her fries. This dog better be grateful!

Plenty of fellow dog parents commented with their own dogs' quirks about mealtimes, so fortunately, she is absolutely not alone in this!

"Our Corgi makes us leave the room when he eats. He’ll stare at us like we’re doing something wrong," one person wrote.

Another commenter added, "I just spent 45 minutes portioning 'real food' for my dog. she definitely owns me."

Many Dogs Have Quirks About Food

If you've noticed your dog is very particular about what they eat or how they eat (or sometimes both), don't worry — that doesn't necessarily signal that anything is "wrong."

In fact, it's pretty common that your pup will want to eat alone, since instinctively,  many dogs will be protective over their food (after all, if they were still living in the wild like their wolf ancestors, there would be a competition over who gets to eat it!).

But if your dog refuses to eat unless you're in the room, there may be something else going on. As The Dodo points out, only eating when you're in the room could mean that they're experiencing separation anxiety or even depression, especially if they seem to be showing other symptoms of anxiety, like having accidents in the house or suddenly showing destructive behaviors when you leave the house.

Of course, like all dog parents know, these are quirky creatures with their own big personalities, so there's always that chance that your dog just enjoys having your company while they're eating. But if you notice anything off — or if they are suddenly requiring your presence when before they ate fine without it — it might be worth bringing up with your vet.
