Sometimes it feels like there’s a fast food place on every corner in Henderson.

The good part of that is that you’re never far away from a warm meal.

The downside is that deciding where to eat gets harder since your options feel almost limitless.

So let's take a look at some of the most popular fast food burgers and how they stack up.

Rules and Results

When I started to look at fast food menus, I realized I had a problem.

There were too many options and each option was wildly different from the others.

To keep things simple, I made two rules.

1. Each burger must have cheese
2. Each burger must have two patties

Here’s how some of the most popular fast-food burgers stand up.

Note: the format of the list is as follows: (Calories, Protein, Carbs)

• McDonald’s: Big Mac (590, 25, 46)
• In-N-Out’s: Double Double (610, 34, 41)
• Burger King’s: Whopper w Cheese (740, 32, 50)
• Shake Shack’s: Double ShackBurger (760, 51, 27)
• Wendy’s: Daves Double (860, 59, 37)

Winners

Calories

This one could go either way.

If you’re looking for a burger with the least calories, Big Mac (590) is the clear winner.

If you’re looking for the one with the most, Daves Double (860) blows the competition away.

Protein

If you’re looking for a high-protein meal, Wendy’s has got you covered.

In addition to the 860 calories, Daves Double packs a whopping 59 grams of protein.

Carbs

Carb lovers would prefer the Whopper w Cheese since it contains 50 grams of carbs.

Surprises

The list contained two surprises for me.

The Big Mac is tiny

The Big Mac used to be one of the bigger fast-food burgers. Those times are long gone. It contains 270 fewer calories than Daves Double.

A third bun makes a difference

The Big Mac’s 46 carbs are second on the list despite being the lowest in calories.

In hindsight, that shouldn’t have been overly surprising since it’s the only burger with a third bun on the list.
