Boomer: Aaron Rodgers, Jets offense should have 'huge year' with young talent around him

Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense did just enough to hold off the Titans on the road on Sunday, as Rodgers threw for 176 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions to get Gang Green in the win column.

The victory included a Breece Hall touchdown, a breakout game from rookie Braelon Allen, and Garrett Wilson leading the way with 57 receiving yards.

All told, Boomer believes the Jets offense has the ingredients to do special things with Rodgers under center, given the mix of youth and talent around him.

“A 40-year-old guy playing with a 20-year-old running back, a 23-year-old running back, a 24-year-old wide receiver, he’s got this youth and exuberance around him, and this speed…all of his experience coupled with all that talent around him, they should have a huge offensive year,” Boomer said.

“It will come and get better each and every week.”

The Jets defense is still trying to find itself after two weeks, and a likely season-ending injury to Jermaine Johnson doesn’t help that cause, but Boomer believes the offense is going to be able to do enough to make up for potential deficiencies, unlike in years past.

“You can see what the Jets have,” Boomer said. “And I thought the pass protection was pretty damn good [Sunday], for the most part.”
