MBI Investigation Leads to Indictment of Drew Police Chief

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has conducted an investigation into a 2022 restaurant shooting. The results have led to the indictment of Drew Police Chief Terry Tyler.

The incident, which took place in Southaven, began as a confrontation that began to escalate until gunshots rang out. The shootout caused an outcry of concern for public safety, and an investigation was opened by the Mississippi Bureau of Investgation (MBI).

Witness accounts of the incident, forensic analysis, and police reports were all used in an extensive investigation of the confrontation. The evidence led to a Desoto County Grand Jury indictment against Tyler.

According to DeSoto News, Tyler was booked into police custody at DeSoto County Adult Detention Center on September 13, 2024. Twelve hours later, Tyler was released on a $250,000 bond.
