The Miami Dolphins are making plans for their future in the wake of the concussion suffered by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in Week 2 of the NFL season.

On Monday, it was announced that the Dolphins are signing former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley, a dual-threat passer who has found some success on the field in his NFL career.

Huntley, a former Utah Ute star, played in Baltimore for four seasons, completing 64.6% of his career passes for 1,957 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. Huntley also brings some rushing upside to the table, with 115 carries for 509 yards and 3 touchdowns in his 20 career games.

Huntley will now compete with Skylar Thompson for the QB1 role in Miami while Tagovailoa remains sidelined.

At the moment, the future timeline is a bit unclear for Tua Tagovailoa this season. He suffered his third recorded concussion on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills, and there have been many calls for him to hang up his cleats and retire in order to save his brain health for the remainder of his life.

However, multiple reports have indicated that Tagovailoa does not plan to end his NFL career in the wake of his most recent concussion, and will try to return to the Dolphins this season.

In the meantime, Miami needs to figure out something at the QB spot, whether it's Thompson or Huntley. The Dolphins are 1-1 through two games this year, but they have the offensive firepower to be a playoff team with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Devon Achane leading the way. All they need now is a quarterback to get them the ball.
