Carlos Rodón has a new career-high in wins after his latest outing.

Rodón pitched 5.1 innings on Sunday, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out five batters. He picked up his 15th win of the season, surpassing his previous career-high 14 wins in 2022. The New York Yankees won the series finale 5-2 and took three of four games from the Boston Red Sox.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone commented on his starter’s season after the game. He immediately pointed out Rodón’s health this season before talking about the lefty’s work ethic.

"It goes back to the end of last season,” Boone said about his starting pitcher. “He's been locked in, he's worked his butt off, he’s done a great job at putting the blinders on and chopping wood if you will.”

Rodón has made 30 starts for the Bronx Bombers this season. His next start will match a career-high set in 2022. The pitcher has a 15-9 record with a 4.12 ERA and 186 strikeouts over 163.2 innings. He leads the Yankees’ pitching staff in wins and strikeouts, and he has the second-most innings pitched behind Nestor Cortes.

The starter has a history of success.

Rodón is in the second year of a six-year, $162 million contract with the Yankees. He won just three games in 14 starts in 2023 while pitching to a 6.85 ERA.

Rodón signed that contract after two consecutive seasons in which he earned Cy Young votes. The lefty finished sixth in the 2022 National League race while with the San Francisco Giants. The starter had a career-best 2.37 ERA in 2021 with the Chicago White Sox. He finished fifth in the American League Cy Young voting that season.

Rodón will continue to be a solid starting rotation option for the Yankees as the team pushes toward a championship run.
