‘Ominous Tone’: Florida Sheriff Speculates Would-Be Trump Assassin Could Be ‘Part of a Conspiracy’

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder openly suggested the possibility of a broader conspiracy in a press conference discussing the capture o f Ryan Wesley Routh , the would-be assailant arrested with an assault rifle in a failed assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump.

News broke Sunday afternoon that Secret Service Agents returned gunfire at a man in West Palm Beach, Florida on Sunday — after gunfire was heard while former President Trump was leaving his golf course. Routh has since been apprehended, and during a Monday morning press availability, Sheriff Snyder lauded the work of a civilian in helping in his capture but also wondered aloud if there was a broader conspiracy at play.

The Martin County sheriff was asked if Routh was from Martin county — to which he admitted he does not yet know, but went on to speculate larger questions that remained unanswered.

“ I think what we’re finding out is that from this area, which of course raises the bigger question is how does a guy from not here get all the way to Trump International, realize that the president, the former president United States is golfing and is able to get a rifle in that vicinity?” Sheriff Snyder said.

“I think that’s the question the FBI and the Secret Service are laser-focused on,” he continued before speculating the possibility of something more nefarious or, in his words, “ominous.”

“Is this guy part of a conspiracy?” he flatly asked. “Is he a lone gunman? If it’s a lone gunman? President Trump, is that much safer because we have him. But if he’s part of a conspiracy, then this whole thing really takes on a very ominous tone. “

It’s clear that the sheriff was saying this based on no knowledge, but the floating of a conspiracy without evidence is sure to be latched on to by those eager to promote that narrative.
