One of the most revered names in the NBA community, Tyronn Lue's words carry weight. Therefore, it has a meaning when the former Cavs champion coach says something. Such was the case with former Clippers guard Luke Kennard.

During a press interaction in 2022, Coach T-Lue was asked where he would rank Kennard among the league's premier shooters, to which the LAC coach had the following response.

"I say he's 10th because they (others) don't pass up shots. The other nine guys they're looking for their shots at all times. Luke turns down too many shots. But, if you go on the makes, he's at the top. You know, he's one of the tops in terms of making. But the other guys are seeking shots, and they know they're supposed to shoot the basketball. They don't turn down shots. So, if you go off that, Luke is 10th, and if you go off, it makes him a top 2 or 3."

Lue's explanation holds valid, considering the 28-year-old's numbers when he was on the Clippers. Kennard was a highly efficient 44.8% from beyond the arc, averaging 4.6 attempts from long range in his limited role on the team.

    Kennard did agree with T-Lue

The 6-foot-5 guard agreed with his former coach, acknowledging he could be more aggressive. At the same time, Kennard prioritized making the right play and adding further.

"I agree there's some opportunities for me to be more aggressive and hunt my shots. So I take that. I'll take the top ten."

In his seven seasons, Kennard averaged close to eight FGA, including a little over four tries from 3-point range. Speaking of his productivity, the now Grizzlies player is a career 43.9% shooter from beyond the arc.

    Highlights with the Clippers

One of Kennard's career-best performances came during a game against the Wizards in January 2022. Notching a quick 25-point performance, the Clippers guard went 8-for-13 from the field, rallying his team back from a 35-point deficit and sinking a clutch 3-pointer.

During a game against the Hawks in 2021, Kennard scored a perfect 20, was 100% efficient, and did so in 18 minutes of playing time.
