Good afternoon everyone. As expected, heavy showers & thunderstorms have grown a bit in intensity in parts of the Midwest and Upper Midwest. Areas such as central Kansas and central/eastern Nebraska, have seen some locally strong thunderstorms with heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning.

As time goes on and we enter the later afternoon/evening hours, we could see some hail and stronger winds out of these storms. While severe weather isn't expected at this time, we could see some locally stronger storms throughout the area.

In the Upper Midwest, including northernmost North Dakota and Minnesota, storms have been on the strong to severe side at times. Earlier in the day, quarter size hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning, were reported along the border regions. We're expecting that action to eventually sink a little further south, and become more vigorous in nature.

As the evening wears on, look for stronger and more widespread storms that could once again reach severe limits. Hail up to 1" in diameter, 60mph winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and possible isolated tornadoes, are all on the menu as we move into the later part of the day.
