Adorably Calm Siberian Cat Channels Stuffed Animal Vibes While Riding as Mom's Co-Pilot

If you’ve never had a cat who was fond of the car, it might be hard to even imagine it's possible. But many get just as excited about an adventure on the open road as dogs and eagerly peer out the window to see what’s coming.

However, others behave more like human babies and find the sound and movement make for the perfect nap. At least, that’s what this fluffy Siberian cat likes to do, and he’s the total picture of relaxation.

This little guy is out like a light! The gentle motion of the car helped him drift into dreamland, and it doesn’t appear he will be waking up anytime soon. His mom, Crystal (@ lilstarsiberians ), says he’s her adventure cat, and she often takes him for rides when she runs errands. She believes that exposing cats to new experiences when young helps them stay calm and adaptable. This sleeping beauty proves this theory if a picture can say 1000 words. To keep her precious fur baby safe, he’s napping in a soft, waterproof car seat that attaches to the center console and his harness. This setup would help prevent injury to both her and the kitten if she braked suddenly.

Ways to Introduce Cats to the World

1. Before taking your cat on a road trip , it’s helpful to let them get comfortable in a stationary vehicle first. Allowing them to explore and play while using plenty of positive reinforcement and treats helps to create a positive association with this activity.
   
   
2. Start with leash training inside the house. Once they are comfortable with their harness, walks outside can begin. If they show signs of anxiety or apprehension, it’s best to end the adventure and try again another day.
   
   
3. Allow kittens supervised time outdoors on a leash or within an enclosure. This can help them become familiar with unfamiliar sounds and sights, which can help them be less fearful of new experiences as they age.

Pet parents marveled at this Siberian Cat ’s serene behavior. Viewer @impatientmiss remarked, “I wish I would have done this with my kitty when she was young. She hates the car.” Early and regular exposure appears to be key. Another person reported, “Mine is 5 months old, and this is how I’m training him. Take him out every day after work on his harness, and he goes to town with me on my days off.” It seems to be very effective. Viewer @benedictwormald revealed, “Mine fly about like a cartoon washing machine in the car!” Ha! Even in a pet carrier, I have never had one this relaxed, either.

Although it may be a bit of work to have cats acclimate to the car when they are young, it is undoubtedly worthwhile. Especially if it means you can take your furry pal on your daily adventures!
