Dwyane Wade's 2-Word Reaction to Heat's Latest Move

Dwyane Wade will forever be linked to the Miami Heat despite a brief stint with his hometown team Chicago Bulls and becoming a minority owner of the Utah Jazz.

Miami has been considered a Wade County during his prime years in the NBA.

Wade, the fifth overall pick in arguably the NBA's best draft class, gave the Heat their three championships -- with Shaquille O'Neal in 2006 and with LeBron James and Chris Bosh in 2012 and 2013 -- to date.

Five years after his retirement, the Heat are honoring Wade with a statue.

Omri Amrany and Oscar León of Fine Art Studio Rotblatt Amrany were commissioned to create the Wade statue, according to NBA.com . Wade is the latest NBA legend to have his statue created by Amrany after the iconic “Michael Jordan Spirit” in Chicago, as well as statues of Shaquille O’Neal, Dirk Nowitzki and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar among many others.

Wade made his feelings known about the statue with a tweet four days after the September 12 announcement.

"Forever thankful," Wade said with the hashtag Wade County and his signature lightning and jersey No. 3.

The Heat will unveil the Wade statue on October 27 in front of the Kaseya Center.

“When we retired his jersey in February 2020, I said Dwyane was the face of this franchise forever and I meant it,” Heat President Pat Riley said in a statement in January. “Dwyane’s legacy is a towering one not only for the Miami Heat but for Miami-Wade County. I can’t think of a better way to honor him than by memorializing that legacy.”
