The Least Used Amtrak Station In Arkansas As Of 2023

    2024-09-16

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Amtrak served 28,315 passengers across Arkansas in fiscal year 2023, with daily service provided by the Texas Eagle route.

According to Amtrak, this long-distance train connects major cities from Chicago to San Antonio, passing through several Arkansas locations, and also offers thrice-weekly service to Los Angeles via the Sunset Limited.

Little Rock (LRK) was the busiest station in the state, with 16,474 riders. Other stations like Texarkana (TXA) and Walnut Ridge (WNR) saw 5,293 and 2,617 passengers, respectively, according to Amtrak.

However, Arkadelphia (ARK) was the least used station, serving only 1,050 passengers over the year, reflecting lower ridership in this smaller community, according to Amtrak.

Despite some stations seeing lower numbers, Amtrak’s presence remains vital for the state, providing important transportation link.

However, on-time performance remains a challenge, as Amtrak relies on host railroads, which often prioritize freight traffic over passenger trains.
