NFL analyst proposes Detroit Lions trade that lands star pass rusher

If the Detroit Lions want to put themselves in the best position possible to win a Super Bowl this year, they've got to make sure they have a consistent pass-rush.

We already know Aidan Hutchinson is going to hold up his end of the bargain after what we've seen over two games, but Detroit's situation is shaky behind him.

Marcus Davenport was excellent in Week 1, but he has a history of injury concerns and has already missed a game this season. Also, the Lions can't really depend on guys like James Houston or Josh Paschal to pick up the slack.

Knowing that, the Lions should be exploring any and every avenue available to add to the group, and one possibility could be star edge rusher Haason Reddick, who remains in a standoff with the New York Jets as he seeks a contract extension.

In a recent article suggesting trades for Reddick, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox lists the Lions as a potential landing spot. He suggests the Lions send over a 2026 third-round pick for the disgruntled pass-rusher.

"The Lions did add Marcus Davenport, who had a half-sack in Week 1, during the offseason," Knox wrote. "However, there's still room for another disruptive defender in the rotation. Reddick, who recorded 11 sacks and 35 quarterback pressures in 2023, would fit the bill."

The Lions might be able to get Reddick for cheaper than a 2026 third-round pick considering a hefty extension will likely be necessary to complete a trade for him.

If the opportunity presents itself, Detroit should definitely pounce on Reddick, as he would shore up the team's edge rush group in a big way after averaging nearly 13 sacks per season over his last four.

Turning 30 in a few days, Reddick is young enough to be a multi-year solution, and the Lions have the funds both now and in the future to afford him.
