My second husband (shh, let me live), Captain Jason Chambers , is returning to our screens very soon. His series, Below Deck Down Under , is in the editing queue, awaiting snarky inserts and cuts from the production teams. From the sounds of it, changes are in store for Season 3. This reveal makes sense, as BDDU Season 2 was a dumpster fire, only improving after two fired crew members walked the plank early.

At first, BDDU Season 2 was difficult to watch . I will not give the two fired yachties shout-outs. Instead, I will keep this a safe space. I will only state that sexual advances are horrid if consent never enters the chat.

These nefarious actions left the network scrambling. In the off-season, meetings transpired, hoping to create changes within this franchise. Their efforts then paved the way for a safer Season 3. Speaking to US Weekly , Captain Jason touches on what these changes entail.

“There were changes for sure. I know the policies and procedures were in place during the previous seasons, even when that [the assaults] happened. When production stepped in and stopped it, that showed that these policies and procedures were very understood,” Captain Jason began. But even still, had production not been lurking, far darker problems could have arisen during BDDU Season 2.

This makes me sick to think about.

Therefore, Season 3 needed even tighter safety protocols put into place. “For the next season, the policies and procedures” will not be solely “controlled by the production team itself,” Captain Jason continued. Due to this close call, Season 3 will also include “additional HR people.” Their presence will ensure “that the black and white writing” is “understood by all,” Captain Jason hotly (probably) stressed.

These behind-the-scenes changes will also impact what airs. “There seemed to be a lot less drinking and a lot more drama,” Captain Jason teased without dropping any additional crumbs. Say more, Capt. Whatever happens, I will be watching, so hurry up in that editing room, as I need to see BDDU Season 3 on Bravo ASAP.

Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock.
