Calls Mount for NFL Owner to Sell Team After Recent Roster Change

The NFL is now two weeks into the 2024 season, and some teams have left their mark as potential Super Bowl threats. Other teams have found themselves at the bottom of the barrel, with one already being dubbed as, by far, the worst team in all of football.

The Carolina Panthers have fallen to 0-2 on the season after two consecutive beatdowns by the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Chargers. Led by second-year quarterback Bryce Young, the Panthers are averaging only 176 yards per game, the worst in the NFL.

On Monday, amid the frustrating start to the season, Carolina announced that they have already elected to bench their 2023 No. 1 pick and start veteran Andy Dalton.

Panthers owner David Tepper is facing a majority of the heat for the decision to bench Young, especially given what he traded to acquire the top pick in 2023. Tepper gave away star wideout D.J. Moore, two first-round picks (one of which became Caleb Williams), two second-rounders and a late-round pick.

Since Tepper bought the team in 2018, the Panthers have yet to have a winning record. Fans have been asking him to move on from the team for quite some time, but after the latest lineup move, demand for him to sell the team is at an all-time high.

"This is actually nuts! I’m no way, shape, or form can an organization succeed with the owner consistently hiring great football minds, and not allowing them to think for themselves. Tepper has to go. Sent us into a decade long salvage operation. Worst owner of all time?" one fan said.

"I blame Tepper for all of it. We will never be great as long as he’s here!!!!"

Through two games, Young has completed 31-of-56 passes for zero touchdowns and three interceptions. He has not looked good, and there is no question about that. But sending him to the bench so early on after everything you gave up to draft him is a questionable decision. And many fans believe Tepper had a lot to do with this.
