Buffalo Bills Super Bowl odds continue to climb after dominant Week 2 showing

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills currently look like one of the best teams in the AFC through two weeks of the NFL season. Sportsbooks are paying attention, as the Bills now hold the third-highest odds to win the Super Bowl (+950) according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

We went from talking about this team having some growing pains and adjusting to life without Stefon Diggs to discussing them as one of the best teams in the league in a matter of five days.

How the turntables. So how have they done it?

Buffalo's offense has been absurdly efficient

So far, the Buffalo Bills have the second-highest EPA per play in the NFL at +0.18. If you aren't familiar, EPA means "expected points added." They also rank second in EPA per pass at +0.42, and are accomplishing this with the sixth-lowest passing play percentage in the league at 42.7%. Those EPA marks are also the best in the AFC through two weeks.

It's important to understand that this is a small sample size, and that Buffalo's last game is not indicative of what their typical attack will likely resemble. Due to circumstances like Tua Tagovailoa's concussion and the defense slamming the door shut early with three interceptions, including a pick six, the Bills offense wasn't really asked to do a whole lot.

Still, the early returns look fantastic, with the offense looking balanced and in rhythm, Josh Allen looking like he doesn't have to play hero ball, and the offense averaging 5.8 yards per play (9th best). Sign me up.

    Buffalo Bills secondary looks incredible

It can't be overstated how impressive the defense was against a Miami Dolphins offense with the fastest wide receiver duo in the league in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. They limited that duo to only 65 receiving yards combined. That's the lowest total for that duo since Hill joined Miami.

The defense, for all the preseason concerns about the safety position and the injuries at linebacker, looks disciplined, stout, flies to the ball, is tackling incredibly well, and is getting massive performances from young and unproven contributors in the secondary. Also, it's time that the league starts to understand that Christian Benford is arguably the most underrated cornerback in the game. He's legit. Through two games, he has been targeted 10 times, coming away with one interception while allowing only four catches. Yes please.

This type of production opposite Rasul Douglas, with youngsters like Ja'Marcus Ingram, Cam Lewis, and Cole Bishop all balling, is incredible. Sean McDermott might not be a perfect coach, the play that he gets out of his defensive backs is up there with the best of them in the NFL.

The Bills might just be the truth. Next up is a date with Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars at home in Highmark Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
